Vasectomy

What is Vasectomy? How is it performed?

Vasectomy is a procedure that has become increasingly common in recent times. Vasectomy procedures in men involve preventing the mixture of semen with other fluids during ejaculation (ejaculation is the release of semen, containing sperm, from the male reproductive tract). This method is known as male contraception. It can be considered as the male equivalent of tubal ligation in women. Vasectomy involves cutting the sperm ducts. The sperm produced in the testicle is then carried into the urethra inside the penis and released externally during ejaculation. The surgical procedures aim to prevent the entry of sperm into the urethra.

As a result of this procedure, sperm does not mix with semen. Vasectomy is a highly reliable method. Vasectomy procedures can be safely performed in clinics and operating rooms. If anesthesia is required, it should be done in an operating room. Vasectomy can be performed under local or general anesthesia.

What are the techniques of Vasectomy?

Vasectomy techniques can be explained in two different ways. The first is:

The conventional technique, which is applied with a conventional approach. In this technique, a small incision is made in the scrotum. After the incision is made, the procedure begins, and the vas deferens are reached. This area is cut, preventing the connection, and then the tubes are tied. The incisions are closed, completing the operation.

The second technique is:

No-scalpel vasectomy. In this technique, no incision is made in the scrotum. The vas deferens are felt in the scrotum and clamped with a clip. A small hole is made in the skin surface, and the vas deferens are lifted. Then, they are tied and closed.
